Save The Date!!!

So this is what we have all been building towards. This is what the Artists have been  working so very hard on for the past few months . Ladies and Gentlemen!! I would like to personally invite you all to the first (of hopefully many) Transplanted Project Shows. The show will be up for a month, but the official opening reception will Friday May 6th, 2011 at Space On White. I hope to see you all there =)

In the few weeks leading up to the opening I will continue to post just like I have been before. As more finished pieces continue to come in … the more excited I become. And I hope to pass on that same enthusiasm to you all as well. So stay tuned!!

So Seductive…

The Mermen of Tobago...

So here is a completed piece for the Transplanted Project. Brought to you by the lovely Silvia Faschi … here is her take on the Mermen of Tobago. Part of their myth speaks of them swimming upstream to fornicate with the water nymphs of the forests. And as you can see Miss. Faschi  did a very good job of capturing that. You can tell that so much time went into putting this elaborate piece together. I especially appreciate the attention to detail. One such detail which happens to be my favorite will be posted below. So I hope you like what you see. I know I do. Until Next time folks…

Details ... I love details!

In the Studio with Miss Bogusz…

So funny story… I had just taken a break from painting for the day to contact the fellow artists to see if they had anything for me to post on the blog for this week. To my surprise sitting in my in-box there was an email from someone who is quickly becoming one of my favorite people in the world. The email had informed me that she had updated her blog with the progress of her piece.

Needless to say this news put is smile on my face, and made my job so much easier tonight. So I will only provide  you with one image from her blog, and then provide the LINK to her personal site so you cane see the rest of the images she posted. All I can say about the painting is that I am loving where it is going, and I cannot wait to see the finished product.

Thanks again Miss Zofia Bogusz

Taking a Slight Detour….

So I think in this post I will take a time out and focus on a major inspiration that brought about the idea for Transplanted. If you are West Indian, or are fortunate to know some one that is… then of course you know Trinidad Carnival time is quickly approaching. Even though it has been decades since I have actually played in a mass, it never ceased to be a major party of my life.

From the earliest days of walking though the old Piarco airport and seeing the following costume by legendary Peter Minshall. ( You can skip to the 1:39 mark to see the costume I am talking about… ooooor you can do what I did and enjoy the whole video.)

To trolling triniscene.com to see the latest band launches…

And last but not least witnessing my parents my parents pack up, and fly back home to Trinidad for partake in Carnival …. Every … Year. (Sorry no pictures of that folks).

If you have the time, I encourage you take a moment out to read up on the history of Carnival. Not only does it serve as a great inspiration to me. But it’s own roots also are based on the same theme I am produce with The Transplanted Project. Next Week… Back to our regularly Scheduled program .

OH …. and stay tuned folks. Word has it some big news may be coming down the pipeline soon 😉

A Tribute To a Friend… and A Little Piece of Wonderful….

This weeks post revolves around the piece that I have been working very hard on. Instead of posting the full painting, I figured it would be a good idea to just give you two details.

Old man logan...

Detail one is a small tribute to an old friend/baby brother who is no longer with us. Every day he is missed.

A little bit of wonderful...

Detail two is a piece of the painting that I had a lot of fun working on. But just so that you know. This picture does piece no justice. So I hope when the time comes… You all will come out to take a look at everything in person. Until next time folks…

Isn’t She Loooooovely…

So here is the latest installment of the work in progress of Miss Zofia Bogusz. The day I opened up the email to see this little tease, and smile instantly crept up on my face. Not only because of how beautiful this image looks, but also because THIS SONG automatically popped into my head.

Final work in progress...

Final work-up sketch...

So as it goes to show. Not only am I a sucker for a pretty face, but I am also a sucker for Stevie Wonder.

In the past few days I have received a few other updates from artists as well, and the majority of them are near completions. So for the time being I am holding off on posting the images. I would much rather prefer to debut the absolute finished piece.  And I promise you it will be worth the wait. So as always stay tuned folks…
